What it is about:

This visualisation results from the debate of the "Gendiagnostikgesetz", particularly the part of the possibilities for insurance companies. By transforming the information into a formula and giving the viewer a key to read it, it is possible to understand the process of debating a law in the making and following different groups and their position quite clearly and still get to respect the complexity of it.

Using GPS and the build-in compass this iphone app lets you discover your hometown or other cities worldwide with a playful twist: for every location you discover you get points and unlock new places. Klammer

What it is about:

The focus of this project was to develop different and experimental visualisations to make mass data easier to read, understand and therefore better to use. Huge data clouds containing millions of information should be translated into an uncomplicated form. More details are currently not possible due to an NDA.

Meta:

Solo Project: Conception | Information Mapping | Notation | Musical visualisation | Video
Tools: Illustrator | After Effects

What it is about:

A sound event is changing its media and is represented in a visualisation, giving each specific sound its own character. Every instrument and sound effect is changed into an element of this road map, the turns at each line are determined by the first letter. Basically, this map simply has to look like it does because of the music source.

What it is about:

All natural resources are bound to run out yet demand for them is growing constantly. This application gives users the possibility to change something about it. Whole continents or single countries can be selected and their demand as well as their export can be changed. But no change comes without consequences as saving on export will dry out countries who are in need of importing. Keeping the balance and holding out for as long as possible without a chance to win is what you have to do.

Redesign News Portal | Winter 2009

Meta:

Team Project / My Part: Conception | Information Architecture | User Centered Design | Website Development
Tools: Photoshop | Indesign

Klammer

What it is about:

Redesigning a news web portal from an unreadable mess to something user friendly and with an own personality. Starting with an analysis of the existing portal the information architecture has to be redesigned before starting to develop a grid based layout. This being a web portal for stock market news real time is an important factor, so the header has a timeline (which works also as navigation) to overview the latest news in order of appearance as well as information about the stock market development.

Free project Redesign | Summer 2008

Meta:

Team Project / My Part: Conception | Redesign | Usability Test
Tools: Photoshop | Illustrator | Head Mounted Eyetracking Device

Klammer

What it is about:

Following a Usability Test involving Eye Tracking Devices this Redesign has the premise to make the playlist more prominent and the different kinds of media immediately recognizable. The results of the usability test inspired a lot of design choices such as the more redundant approach to reach a media file, thus making the navigation and the experience less frustrating.

First posts should always have a special meaning. Since this is my first online portfolio, things are bound to change. A personal website is like a living organism, always in the process of evolution. George Lucas once said: "Movies are never done, they are abandoned." I believe there is a lot of truth to this statement, especially when it comes to user interface design.

I always have the feeling that there must be a more intuitive way to support the user. And thus design will always evolve...
